Sophia happily participates in traditional dances between two classmates at Uganda Empowers. She broke her arm in multiple places last year and worked hard for months to regain use of it. The Gendercide Awareness Project funded Sophia’s physiotherapy, and now, she participates in recreational activities like this one.

While a broken arm is a setback for anyone, in rural, poverty-stricken #Uganda, where educational opportunities are rare for young girls, losing the use of one arm could have consigned Sophia to a life of begging and abject poverty. Gendercide Awareness Project collaborates with Uganda Empowers and proudly educates girls like Sophia – “girls and women who dream of supporting themselves.”
