Sonam dreamed of studying computer science at a California university when she was interviewed by journalist Annalisa Merelli for Quartz.  She was in 10th grade, and although she hasn’t made it to California, yet…she cleared her exams at @Pardada Pardadi Educational Society, earned a place at NTTF (Netter Technical Training Foundation) in Bangalore, and landed a job at a reputed IT company after completing her higher education. All this, accomplished by a poor girl from a rural patriarchal community in India’s largest state, fulfills the vision of Virender “Sam” Singh, founder of PPES. “Financial independence breeds social independence,” says Sam.  Gendercide Awareness Project is a proud educational sponsor of PPES -empowering rural girls and women through education and employment.
