Dr. Diane Frade’s story began over 30 years ago on the streets of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. “I noticed there were children on the street. They were sniffing glue; they were begging for money. They were living in the street. And I always thought they were boys. Then I found out that a lot of those boys were actually little girls dressed up as boys. Why? So that they could avoid being abused sexually by predators.” Our Little Roses https://www.ourlittleroses.org/ was subsequently founded and today, 65 girls rescued from the street currently thrive in a nurturing home where they receive a Spanish- English bilingual education through college or technical school. The school boasts a 97% graduation rate and many girls go on to become teachers, social workers, graphic designers, dentists, beauticians and engineers. Gendercide Awareness Project is proud to announce our newest sponsored school, Our Little Roses and is an excited partner in their mission to improving the quality of life of the girls of Honduras.
