Htang is one of the ten girls Gendercide Awareness Project sponsored through Educational Empowerment in Northern Myanmar. At the time this picture was taken, she was living in an IDP Camp (Internally Displaced Persons) where she served as a Child Protective Volunteer due to her digital skills obtained through IT training at Educational Empowerment. The school is no longer operational, and Myanmar remains in upheaval since the military ousted the elected government. Myanmar’s troubles underscore the importance of providing educational opportunities to girls like Htang, who seek to better their lives and communities. Gendercide Awareness Project considers it an honor to have played a role in offering hope to these girls in Kachin State, Myanmar.
