Bishnu Maya’s street vending business of roasting corn was recently tended by her daughter while she attended a family funeral. Shunned by her family for not having a son, Bishnu is self-employed in menial work. But Bishnu wants better for her two daughters, Shrijana and Shreena. Both girls have the opportunity for an education that their mother never had.  Through Hands in Outreach sponsored schools in the slums of Nepal, the eldest is in law school and her younger sister, Shreena attends Bal Kendra pre-school. Gendercide Awareness Project is proud to partner with Hands in Outreach’s vision to empower girls through education to become strong, self-reliant adults.
