These students of Miguel Angel Asturias Academy in Guatemala haven’t attended school since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and a re-start anytime is not yet on the horizon. The red arrows point to our three sponsored students, whose school year runs from Jan.- Oct.  The school faces obstacles because many families are without internet access for virtual classrooms.   In addition, many parents no longer can pay partial tuition due to job loss. The school struggles to keep paying teachers during the shutdown. Gendercide Awareness Project is a proud educational partner of Miguel Angel Asturias Academy and sent funds for teacher pay.  Consider partnering with us so that the most disadvantaged children in Guatemala — those of indigenous descent –will still have their school when they are able to return.
