Our goal is to generate awareness and inspire action through art & activism to curb gendercide
Awareness Through Art: To generate both awareness AND inspire action, we designed an art installation involving 11,700 pairs of handcrafted baby booties gathered from around the world. Each pair represents 10,000 missing women and girls.
The interactive exhibit was designed by Beverly Hill and serves to inform visitors of this human rights atrocity by surrounding them, on all sides, with baby booties.
The exhibit features information about gendercide and ways to support reputable on-the-ground organizations that work overseas on behalf of women and girls.
Slated to open in Dallas, TX in 2015, the exhibit will travel across the U.S.
To Help End Gendercide: Cultural attitudes cannot change overnight. However, grassroots organizations that offer education, job training, micro-credit, and healthcare for women and girls have proven effective in improving their livelihoods. Our exhibit shares stories of reputable and effective organizations working against the oppression of women and inspires visitors to donate directly to them.
Please note — the funds collected by the Gendercide Awareness Project will be used to build, publicize, store and ship the exhibit.
