Megan graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and is the daughter of Irene Mylan, who owns the upscale resale shop Clothes Circuit at Preston Center. Irene, or rather Clothes Circuit, has sponsored numerous Gendercide Awareness Project events and is sponsoring our upcoming screening on Thursday, February 11 of Angelina Jolie's Difret -- about child marriage. Info and tickets here.
One of Megan's lesser known projects is this 10-minute film about educating girls and delaying marriage in West Bengal, India. The program teaches girls about the dangers of child marriage and empowers them economically so that they bring income to their families, making them economic assets rather than liabilities. The girls use some of their income to pay their school fees. They plant gardens on every scrap of available land, sell their produce at the local market, and pay their way through school.
The program is described in the article we just posted. Here is Megan's short film about the same program!
