Donate Baby Booties

We are soliciting handmade baby booties from donors all around the world. We want to collect 11,700 booties that are extremely varied and traditional to as many ethnic groups as possible. The preciousness of the booties as a craft item, made by women who love their daughters, provides a caring, loving counter-message to the brutal facts of gendercide.

If possible, please make baby shoes that are approximately 4" to 4.5" (10-12 cm) in length.  Smaller booties may not be visible in this large installation, and larger ones may be difficult to mount.  When you have finished, please send your completed baby shoes to:

Donate Baby Booties for the Art Installation

The number 117 million breaks down into 11,700 times 10,000. Our team is collecting 11,700 handmade pairs of baby booties from around the world, with each pair representing 10,000 missing women.

The baby booties will be displayed in a long corridor as shown below.
